Would you go out of your way to shop at a store that is creating farm and
food production jobs within your community? Though some of our food markets
have local foods built in to their mission, none are known to be transparent
about the amount of local foods they sell. We will work with our area
stores to help them make a commitment to the movement and to get to "10%
certified". For now, they need to hear form you. Please ask: "where are
the local foods?" next time you visit your grocer. You might also look for
the farm name and location on specific food items. Let them know that
farmers are now growing fresh and healthy foods every month of the year in
Washtenaw County. Let's reward the stores that are getting on board with
our support.
